Easily Achieve Success as a Coach

One of the #1 things my clients come to me wanting help with is turning their passion for helping others into a business as a coach — and doing it in a sustainable way that allows them to flow and enjoy freedom, instead of staying stuck on the proverbial hamster wheel of the hustle.

They’ve usually spent months (even years) looking at other coaches build a loyal audience, create wealth and abundance, and enjoy the freedom to do other things like travel the world while doing work they love; so it’s only natural that they (and you) want to learn how to achieve that too.

What often stops most people wanting to get into coaching isn’t their lack of knowledge, experience, or skill — it’s where to begin.

Sound familiar?

Then keep reading until the end because I’m going to share three high-level strategies to achieve success as a coach, and a proven process to help you get started so you can take the fast track on your way.

Get Support from a Mentor You Trust

Of course, you are smart, skilled, experienced and fully capable of building a coaching business on your own.

But, Lebron James is also smart, skilled, and experienced and could probably throw flawless 3-pointers all day — and he still has a coach and a team of other professionals to keep him at the top of his game.

That’s because as the true professionals we are, we are not meant to do this alone. Take it from someone whose one of very few regrets is not investing in support sooner, you may go fast when you go-it alone, but you go so much further when you team up with someone who’s been where you desire to go.

When it comes to finding a trusted mentor you can link arms with, there’s a couple things you should do and understand first.

Number one — set an intention for the specific type of support you’re looking for.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to anything in life or business, so you should know exactly what you’re wanting to get out of a mentorship/coaching relationship so you can effectively communicate that to your mentor/coach, and they can best support you in achieving your desired outcome.

Number two — do your research.

Investing in a mentor/coach is a BIG DEAL. You should be proud! You should also keep your best interest at heart, and before you invest anything monetarily with a mentor or coach, make time to connect with a few that resonate with you and notice how you feel when you’re in their energy.

This plays such a massive role in who you’ll end up hiring to guide you on your journey to your next level life and business. If you don’t align with the values of your mentor/coach, or you don’t feel like you can fully be yourself and open up in their energy, then it’s going to stifle the magic in your relationship. You won’t show up fully, and they won’t be able to serve you fully — trust me, I’ve been there on both ends.

When you’re making time to find “the one”, spend time watching their videos, read their posts and consume their content, and even slide into their DM’s now and then for a conversation — then notice how you feel after. Do you feel elevated, like you can be, do and have anything you desire? Or, do you feel less than, maybe like you’re just another follower?

Vibes. Don’t. Lie. You’ll know when you’ve found the right person to invest your time, money, and energy in. Trust that, trust yourself, and then take the leap!

Focus on mastering ONE thing

One of the biggest mistakes I see new coaches and entrepreneurs make is trying to be #allthethings to ALL the people.

I know you know what I mean, you’ve either been there or seen it happen. Every three or four months, they’re launching something new that isn’t remotely like the last thing they launched. They continue to throw things at the wall hoping that something will stick without digging into why the first thing they launched was a flop.

If this is you, know that it’s not entirely your fault. There’s no shortage of self-proclaimed “guru’s” out there perpetuating the feast/famine and hustle culture of being stuck in a consistent cycle of launching products or programs until something ‘clicks’.

That’s why I’m here to set the record straight.

The best thing you can do for yourself and your business, especially if you’re just starting out as a coach, is to focus on ONE thing. (a.k.a. your secret sauce)

Allow me to explain with another metaphor…

What is McDonald’s known for? Their signature Mac sauce.

People all over the world crave Mac sauce. They’ll drive for hours just to get a taste, try to recreate it at home, and they’ll even buy it in grocery stores to have on hand for burger night.

McDonald’s created massive demand for flavour on a global scale because they focused on mastering ONE thing — Mac sauce.

So, what do you want to be known for? What’s your ‘secret sauce’?

Once you figure that out, it’s easy to identify exactly who needs it, which means you can speak directly to those people and show them that you have the Mac sauce to their Big Mac. (okay, I’m done now.)

I say this from love and experience — this is one of the single best things you can do for your business.

Focusing on one signature program or offer will allow you to become known as the expert for it, which means you’ll be able to scale it, which means you’ll actually be able to enjoy the time and financial freedom you became a coach to enjoy, which means spending less time throwing sh*t at the wall and hoping it sticks, and more time doing more of what you love with whoever you love.

Think and act like a CEO (because you are)

I know it FEELS hard. But, building your coaching business isn’t the hard part, it’s actually easier than you think.

Your business is built on data.
Numbers.
Feedback.
Supply.
Demand.
Market research.
Etc.

You need to implement certain systems and tasks in a certain order, pay attention to the feedback, and adjust until you get the results you want. The “hard” part has nothing to do with your business.

Your business feels hard because it’s a reflection of your mindset. The journey of building your business will inevitably show you all the parts of you that are suppressed, unresolved, and in need of love and attention.

This is always a hot topic with my clients, because many of them don’t realize this until they’ve been pushing, and forcing, and struggling for so long that they can’t seem to figure out why. Each of them comes to me with their own story about business being hard, and I get it because I used to feel the same way.

“I’m exhausted from trading time for money”

“Every time I’m *this* close to achieving my goals, something happens and I’m back at square one.”

“I’m terrified of sales conversations. I feel bad asking for what I want.”

Now these women are manifesting dream clients, pre-selling programs with confidence and ease, smashing income goals, and feeling more aligned and fulfilled than ever.

So, what’s the difference?

They decided to use their business as a path for personal development and claim their CEO power, instead of using their business as a burden to blame. They decided business was easy and then focused all their energy only on what they want, instead of what they don’t want. They trusted themselves enough to shine a light on the negative programming holding them back, instead of staying small and living in fear. They decided to take action in new ways and live outside their comfort zone, instead of accepting mediocrity.

Building your coaching business to the success you dream of gets to be easy if you decide that’s how it’s going to be, but you first have to make that decision and then reinforce it by showing up in the energy of CEO — because that’s exactly what you are.

Every successful CEO knows the mega important role that their energy and mindset play in the success of their business and life, so they prioritize thoughts, beliefs, and habits that support the success they want to create.

A few of my favourite CEO success habits are:

  • Journaling

  • Meditation & Visualization

  • Affirmations

  • Yoga & Exercise

  • Self-Love & Sensual Play

  • Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping)

  • Anchoring

  • T.I.M.E Techniques

Whichever practice you choose, it’s so important that as a coach, you spend just as much time (if not more) holding space for your higher-self to come through the same way you hold space for others. Then continue to show up and serve from that energy and place of fulfillment, and watch as your business and life completely transform.
